HOME IS WHERE THE HE(ART) IS

So, I surprisingly got home earlier than usual yesterday! Yayyy. Now while it was raining in the morning before I left for school, I looked up the heavens and asked God for sunshine by the time I get home, assuming I was gonna get home while it was still bright outside. So yeah, I got home and immediately felt consumed by the fact that I have been depriving myself of much needed sleep. More like unescapable situations have been depriving me of sleep. So I lounged around and ate and watched movies till about a quarter to 6. I looked outside and realized it was still bright as heck. I figured it was God's subtle way of saying, "hey woman! you asked for light, well, what are you waiting for?" So I quickly got up! First to photograph my outfit from the day before (which I'll most likely post next week; I don't post over the weekend), then I decided to do a mini-abstract-shoot. Two seconds into the shoot, me being the brilliant muhfucka that I am lol, decided to place a random piece of an old Forever21 shopping back over my lamp to see how that would affect my shots. The bag was pink, by the way. Let's just say, I was more than pleased with the outcome; peep game:

I SAID EXPLORE ME, NOT EXPLOIT ME

This semester, I was lucky enough to have Tuesdays off. Usually on my day-off, I sit/lay around, write, and construct ideas for self-shoots and photo shoots and excessively indulge in music! Oh, and eat! A lot. haha. When constructing ideas for self-shoots, I find myself thinking of possible outfits. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed, I end up putting on the outfit on shooting ASAP! That's what happened this past Tuesday! Initially, this outfit was put together for Wednesday, but it was much too cold for that. I opted out and wore trousers. It's amazing how that happened; on Tuesday I was sweating heavily while taking these photos, but come Wednesday morning, it's chilly as fuck. Anyway doe.
Oh sidenote: I promised myself I would UP my heel game over the summer. I just really delight in my comfort! ugh. BUT I am a huge fan of heels and I plan to start looking like it. Hmph! I am woman! tahaha!

IT'S 5A.M. AND THE MOON'S STILL OUT

THIS morning, I was forced to wake up earlier than usual. Not griping or anything, but I have to admit it was torture falling asleep at after 1 and having to wake up at 5. My body is so not used to that. So, I wake up all groggy and I'm like, "dude it's Friday, I can give a fuck about what I'm about to throw on after my shower! But first, let me check the weather!" I grab my iTouch and click the weather app, now iPhone users should be familiar with the display of the forecast, there's usually the sun or some form of precipitation hovering over the temperature. I look and I see the moon harbored in the fucking night's sky. lol I slammed my iTouch on my dresser and dragged myself into the bathroom. Anyways, I look Fefe Dobson-ish.

THE CANDY STRIPER

So, I recently acquired these red and white striped shorts! So far, I've worn 'em three times; I love it! I wore this past Monday with this green blazer, which I bought for the online store, which I am still setting up. lol I had no intentions of wearing it, but I couldn't find anything to put over my outfit, so I just threw it on and stuff. Hope whomever ends up buying it doesn't mind! By the way, seeing as I haven't vlogged in a while, the online store should be set up by the middle of the summer.

IT TAKES TWO TO BE INTIMATE

My post title was definitely from the Cee-Lo post below. hehehe. Most of my post titles are, well, mine. Off to the top of the dome piece lol or song lyrics. Mostly mine though. Just thought I'd put an emphasis on that because we are living in age where plagiarism is prevalent. I hate being a victim of plagiarism. I hate watching people take words of others as though it's theirs. As sad as it is to admit, the convenience of the internet has made most people less self-reliant. It's nightmarish to bear witness to this slowly unwinding of human-intellect. The more I see it, the more I am consumed with the need to pick a book. But, that's besides the point, right? After all, the truth always proves difficult to swallow. Seemingly, most people are reluctant to give heed to someone's conscious words. They'd rather lead an ignorant life just 'cause, well, it's easier. It's like when someone says something intellectual or brilliant, they might get a clap or two but it's mostly received by silence, then one someone says something humorous at the expense of others, the crowd cheers like a muhfucker. That's the world we live in. lol, I digress. I took these last week ummmmm, Tuesday? lol I can't even remember.

I have the utmost appreciation of Cee-Lo as an artist. There's a special place in my heart for artists who don't appeal to just one facet of artistry; I delight in their versatility and I am severely inspired by it as well. Artists like Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Swizz Beats, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, etc. This short-film was incredibly well-done, I'm especially taken by the edit and I am as happy as fuck that it was shot using a Nikon. lol it's kinda difficult photographing with a Nikon in a world full of Canons. lol. I love my Nikon though. Duh! Anyways, enjoy.

This was so tastefully put together, I have a strong infatuation with dancers; female dancers especially. That infatuation can be credited to the fact that I've always wanted to be a dancer since I was younger. My mom always tells me, "you know, you've been dancing ever since you learned how to walk..." lol.
Oh and might I just add, I strongly desire to play in Jesse Boykins' hair.

TO CREATE IS TO HAVE REASON TO LIVE

On Monday, I ventured off to the library, which by the way, has grown to become my designated thinking place. What I usually do upon walking into the library is head towards the art section. I walk around and wait for a book title to jump out at me, then I proceed to peruse its content. I found this fashion-illustration book and I am still overwhelmed with how much inspiration came through the pages. Anyways, I haven't done any sketching in a while and seeing as I was still consumed by the inspiration I received on Monday, I created a little sum'm sum'm last night. Took me all of 20 minutes, but I mean, I plan to add more to it and stuff. lol. Let me just add that I created this while listening to The Weeknd's mixtape and sipping on the smoothest smoothie I've ever made.
