Dank&&Dapper represents the idea of being or striving to be a well-rounded and multi-dimensional individual. Meeting your own standards of cool without sacrificing the beauty of the mind to appease the masses. Often times, you'll find that the union of beauty and substance to be a rarity. The purpose of this blog is to serve as a reminder that being yourself while pursuing a dream is much more gratifying, no matter what. You must appeal to yourself before you appeal to others. Dank&&Dapper is also the name of a lifestyle-brand I plan to launch in the very near future. In the meantime, delight in the visions of a visionary. [=♥

VIDEO: JEREMY SCOTT | ADIDAS ORIGINALS x S|S 2012

Directed by: Diogo Coelho.

To know me well is to know that just about anything, design-wise, that Jeremy Scott does, excites me. I am so impressed with the manner in which he revolutionized not only the Adidas brand, but the architecture of a sneaker; it honestly deserves nothing less than praise.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.15 x C'EST MON TEMPS

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
[December 11th, 2011]. The only day, so far this month, that I felt Winter's cold kiss. It's been unusually warm as of late and I am not complaining.
These are my first and only pair of Doc Martens. They're a forest-green, butter-leather number; a novelty piece. Got gifted this by an acquaintance for my birthday. Unfortunately, they cause me a great deal of discomfort; they're a 8.5--I wear a 9/9.5 in boots. Contemplating whether I should sell them or not. Speaking of selling, the online store is still in the works. I'm not fond of rushing things; I'll launch it when all is well and ready.

These pictures were taken by my homie, Josh. Unfortunately, the sun was departing when we started and I didn't quite get the shots I wanted. I will, however, re-shoot wearing this outfit or something similar to it. I've never been too keen on repeating outfits. Peace.

ALBUM: BLU & EXILE x "GIVE ME MY FLOWERS WHILE I CAN STILL SMELL THEM"

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us

That's an overly lengthy title for an album, but still filled with great meaning, as well as great purpose.
My first attraction to a musical-compilation is its production; I seek for it to be coalesce harmoniously with the lyrics, as well the artist's delivery/presentation. I was captivated upon arriving at the second track. Great work. Enjoy; peace.

EDITORIAL: THE NAKED ROOTS COLLECTION x J.I.N.

It is with great joy that I share these photographs with you.
J.I.N. is someone who is over importance to me: one of my older sisters. I, being the youngest of four girls, delight in having three Queens for sisters. My initial intent was to use this post as a platform to declare the many reasons her conduct and accomplishments constantly fill me with unfathomable pride, but that would take away from the effortless regal-essence of these photographs. Peace.

FEATURED ON: FETCHEDGE MAGAZINE + BGKI + MORE

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
I have accumulated some notable interviews with some online publications; namely blogs and online-magazines. However, my schedule has not permitted much time to share the features with my readers, nor memory permit me to recollect URL names and so on. I am always enthralled by those who take in me, what I do and what I stand for. My most favorite feature being on Texas-based online magazine, Fetch Edge magazine's issue III; click here to read my write-up.
I was also featured on Barbados-based style blog, Black Girl Killing It; click here to read the interview. Lastly, as memory permits, I was featured on an Italy-based Focused on People magazine . I have no idea what the write-up says, but I'm most certain it's beautiful. There's undeniably more, but the purpose of this post is to further express my gratitude. I seldom ask for support, so to those who give it—minimally and plentifully—in my absence and in my presence—my appreciation for you goes beyond the power of words. Peace.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.14 x WANDER BREEDS WONDERS

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
[November 15th] "Wander breeds wonder" - a realization I arrived at some short months ago. This ideology caters to the notion that an entity whom wanders, stands to gain more than one that chooses to settle. I'm a thinker, therefore I almost always require and delight in being left in the company of my thoughts. I love that--recently--I have taken to jotting them down. Hence, I'm writing more. Sure not on here, but I can't help but think that no one reads this. You would think that would facilitate the art of completing writing-assignments, but no.

I lead life generally in a bland, simple manner so as to achieve extraordinary in my work. The walls in my room are embossed in a pale-eggshell white and void of decorations. My bedroom is just that--a bedroom. I haven't a television and my iPod is currently not working. Most of my time is spent in there, settled in the center of my bed, sketching; whether pictorially or verbally. I cherish those moments. Though I haven't sketched much lately, I certainly make up for that with my writing. Peace.

VIDEO: PAC DIV x SKEME x CASEY VEGGIES | "TOP DOWN"

Directed by: Topshelfjunior.com

This collaboration awards a brand new denotation to the term "We$tside-connection".
Pac Div never disappoints; Skeme is a force to be felt; Casey Veggies is absolutely shining right now. Nothing--musically--excites me more than this track right now. Except for Drake's "crew love", which features my beloved, The Weeknd.

TEFF x COMPANY: PHOTO-DIARY | NYC NOV 15- NOV.27

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
My day-to-day schedule hasn't permitted much time to blog. Given that the term is coming to a close, it is crunch-time. I find it eerie how I am able to bang out a blog-post in no more than a 20-minute time-span--depending on the topic--but it takes centuries to complete a writing assignment of whatever sort. I become a victim to over-thinking and theorizing, I lose time and in turn, time loses me.

Time spent in NYC over Thanksgiving break was much needed. Although I hit some bumps on the road to enjoyment, the good outweighed the bad at the end. My week consisted of spending my first night in the BX. I had plans, but those were sullied by the rainy weather. I went upstate the following day and proceeded to spend the entire week there. Returned back to BX on the day of my departure and managed to squeeze in a shoot. I initially wanted to squeeze in two, but the fault of that is not with me. After dawn gave way to dusk, severe hunger set in and I and my posse--composed of Molly, Meg and my babe, Kadeem--ventured to S'Mac. This had been my first time eating there--though my heart's desire was Chipotle--I was out-voted. I wish I could share the exact location, but uh, I do not remember. Anyway, long-story-short, I suppose their food was good. More filling than it looks. We made our way to the holiday-fair on Union sq and snapped some shots. Wish I got there earlier in the day. Good times with good company nonetheless. Peace.

VIDEO: SLICK JACKSON | SMOKERS CLUB x DOOBIE BOOBIES

Filmed & directed by: Slick Jackson

I find myself overflowing with pride and joy when marveling at the progression of others, namely loved-ones. My homie Slick belongs in an intimate group of the few people I strongly believe in. If you are an avid visitor of my blog, then you ought to be familiar with his work.

I don't endorse smoking, however I love the carefree nature of this.

MIXTAPE: LUPE FIASCO x "FRIEND OF THE PEOPLE | FOTP"

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us

My mind and ears were first christened with the content of the brilliantly-constructed compilation last week while partaking in random searches on the web. The moment was synonymous to indulging into a new delicacy and due to its foreign method of providing you with delight, you devoured it within a matter of seconds. I will admit that I am not particularly fond of a majority of its production. The instrumentals are boisterous and drowned out, for the most part, the lyrics of most of the songs. But that's where the enjoyment stems from--the fact that the listener must dig deep in order to obtain the substance embedded within. I suppose his aim was to capture the rebellious essence present in pop-rock; I was not prepared.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.13 x THE AGE OF THE EXPRESSIONIST

[December 8th, 2011] 'Tis the age of the expressionist. Never will I shy away from lending power to my passion(s). For if I live for it, it shall in turn, live for me. I create not for an audience; the self suffices. I create to nurture my insanity. I create because amongst many things, art is compelling.
Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
I am a bloody riot
So,t's been quite a while since I've had pictures of my outfits taken by someone else other than myself. There have been plenty factors to blame. Today, for instance, I wanted to wear boots, but I realized I have am incredibly long day ahead of me; comfort must be established and indulged in. Though I was fortunate enough to have the photos I thought I lost recovered (as aforementioned), some of them did suffer minor to severe damage. I must admit, that discouraged me a bit. In addition to that, the term is coming to a close and it's crunch-time. I'm actually working on a paper right now and I am embarrassed to admit that my words are more fluid on here than they are on my paper. Here I am--an individual who is enthralled by the art of writing--I write essays for fun, but when presented with a writing assignment, my thoughts come to a complete stand-still. I was able to knock out an introduction. That's usually the most difficult aspect of writing a paper--the introduction.

VIDEO: MARA HRUBY x "CHARACTER"

Filmed and directed by: Melinda James.

A tasteful insight into the aesthetics of budding neo-soul artist, Mara Hruby . My admiration for Mara extends beyond her the irresistible allure of her vocals, but as well as the fashion in which carries and presents herself--elegance.

TEFFILOSOPHY VOL.13 x THE FASHION TRIFECTA

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
My generation constitutes of individuals who lack, amongst many things, an active spirit of discernment. This fault is evident in nearly every facet of its(my generation) character and conduct, namely fashion. In light of the heightened indulgence in social-media seen this day and age, as well as the fact society is partly centered on the existence of blogs and its authors, I've employed my capacity to observe and aim to briefly explain what I have gathered shortly. First, contrary to popular belief, I am not as enticed or consumed with fashion as most would and--as I am sure--have perceived as it may seem. My concern mostly lies with creating proportion, expression of self-realization and overall appeal.
As the title states: the fashion trifecta--which I constructed after taking into consideration the various forms of self-expression present in the fashion-world. Most people have, seemingly, unwittingly succeeded in overlooking; it is constituted of what most know as "the fashionista" and terms that I have coined as "the stylista" and "the trendista". I'll provide a brief definition and use some well-known bloggers as examples.
The fashionista/-o: defined as an individual who is conscious of the art of fashion and passionately, as well actively expresses it through acquiring intelligence on designer names and textile-knowledge alike.
Example: this is difficult given that most would characterize themselves with this title, are often the complete opposite. This facet of the fashion-trifecta causes me much distaste. As much as I admire one's passion, for anything as moving as the art of fashion and style, moderation is key. An example can be any individual seen wearing designer brands from head-to-toe. They are often defined by the names they wear, rather than the substance they hold. This individual may announce the name of the designer he or she is sporting prior to announcing theirs. None are more fond of a false sense of pride and a starved sense of freedom like most fashion-folks.

The stylista/-o: defined as an individual who is in possession of a sense of style, carved out of extensive self-knowledge. May employ both current and old-school perceptions of fashion and style on a day-to-day basis. All-in-all, one whose confidence radiates inward-outward.
Example: Karla from Karlascloset.com, Anjelica from Modejunkie.com and Raez of Cheapthrillsss.com are brilliant examples. These three women do an effortlessly elegant job at employing both personal taste and "what's in" in their daily wardrobe. This facet of the fashion-trifecta is my most favorite in that highlights the individual more than it does the brand they're clothed in.

VIDEO: THE WEEKND x "THE KNOWING"

Directed by: Mikael Colombu.

Upon the start of this video, I couldn't help but notice the similarity in stylistics of this video to Cee-Lo's "bodies"--that is--till I learned both visuals were created by the same genius-mind: Mikael.

Not only does it fill me with immense joy to finally view and share the first official video from musical-phenom Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd . The excitement does not only lie with the previously stated fact, but more so on the event of me learning that he is Ethiopian. Hence, African. Do you know how much pride this fills me with? When I learned his actual name--his first name to be exact--I concluded he was either partly Middle Eastern or Muslim. But, wait; the excitement does not cease there. In all my anticipation for the release of an official video from The Weeknd, I pondered on thoughts such as: which song would he choose? What concept would he construct? when would he release it? What other artists would be present? With whom would he work with? Pleased that all these questions have indeed been answered and, of course, that this visual is sick-as-fuck. I love the brief Ethiopian history e in the beginning by recognizing the greatness of one of Africa's leading emperor, Haile Selassie. Respect.
