AUDIO: CHRIS 'LOVE CHILD' TURNER x "FEEDING OFF THE LAND"

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us

I first learned of Chris Turner, a piece of the much-needed constitution bettern moderately-known as "The Reawakening of the Romantic Movement" from my good friend, Slick Jackson some time prior to last Summer. Slick insisted time and time again that I check his music out; he thought it would suit my taste and surely, he was right. First of all, anyone that identifies with Love so strongly that they go as far as to regard themself as "Love-child" is absolutely great in my book. You, the reader, ought to be well-acquainted with my advocacy for Love by now, but, well, that's besides the point. Chris has enticed me from an original which is a collaborative product of him and fellow Romantic, MeLo X titled, "liquid love" to musical-covers from the quintessential Sade to the incomparable, Stevie Wonder.

I am very much enamored with the aesthetics of The Reawakening of the Romantic Movement. It is an assemblage of soulful artists such as Jesse Boykins III, Mara Hruby and Moruf to name a few. Their musical-presence not reinforces the importance of Love in music and the world entirely.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.17 x WASHROOM SYMPHONIES

[17-1-12] Photographing yourself, fully-clothed, in the washroom, is totally normal.(satire) If you ever feel possessed by the desire to step out of the norm, by all means, wander off a bit. Get lost, hands-free, eyes closed.

As the date shows, these were taken on Tuesday. I must say it was a total challenge trying to ignore the rampant growls of a hunger that seemed to evolve into a even more feral beast with each failed attempt at a calculated capture. I had just returned from a somewhat long day of classes, grabbed some Japanese food on my way, which was forced to wait because of my semi-justified need to document even the smallest details of my life through pictures or words, whether it be publicized or kept private. Most of which is kept private, in case you were wondering. Peace.

MIXTAPE: J.NOLAN x REESE JONES | THE ARCHETYPE

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us

Learned of this E.P. through participating artist, J. Nolan. The Archetype: a collaborative effort of J.Nolan (rapper) and 18-year-old VA-based producer, Reese Jones embodies that raw Hip-Hop production seen consistent during Rocafella's reign of prominence, namely with the likes of Freeway and Beanie Siegel. Great production, as well as lyrically and substantially-inclined; what more could an active-listener like myself ask for? Listen, enjoy, and share. Peace.

TEFF x COMPANY: GEN X | THE PRELUDE

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
I am beyond late on posting these photos, but I fell into one of those moments where dwelling in life's victories was necessary. I suppose it was the video below titled, "Influencers" that inspired the thought that I, too, partook in something that rested upon a similar premise. Generation X: The Prelude, organized by Alexandra Williams and filmed by Felix took place in the Summer. Undeniably one of the highlights of my Summer. Being in the midst of my peers, relishing in our uniform sense of purpose breathed new air into my lungs. The whole experience reinforced the notion that success is inevitable when surrounded by like-minded mates. The participating individuals were of different facets of art, ranging from DJs to photographers to graphic designers to bakers. Persons like Ricci Steez (graphic designer), Lavan Wright of urban-street brand, Kreemo, phenomenal Brooklyn-bred emcee, L.A. and many more. Click here to learn more.

IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE, WHERE LOVE REIGNS SUPREME

[13-1-12] I believe that to be Loved, is to spell-bound by the greatest influence there is. To be Loved is to be wild beyond your wildest dreams. You would share a similar sense of perception if you, too, have felt Love's grasp. You need someone to Love you so much so that it overwhelms you. You, too, can Love yourself just as madly. In Love, as in art, immortality is bred.
Love elevates one to a greater height of consciousness. That I know all that I know today and desire to learn more is because of the power Love.
Speaking of Love, I'd just like to let Cherry Blossom Girl I saw the beautiful write-up on her blog and my heart instantly melted. If you're reading this, I appreciate you.
I took these pictures on Friday, the 13th. Due to the unusual warmth in Winter's air, I can help but think my spirit is still trapped in Autumn. Hence, my choice of colours.
Took it in my not-so-modern kitchen 'cause frankly, my intentions were to age them afterwards. Pleased with the outcome. Peace.

VIDEO: INFLUENCERS | HOW TRENDS & CREATIVITY BECOME CONTAGIOUS

Directed & filmed by: Paul R. and Davis J. of R + I Creative.

Encompassed in this short documentary, are the ideals that have been lurking in the crevices of my mind in the past months. Everything I believe, was finely articulated by the participating individuals.

Towards the end, I don't recall whom, but someone stated his anticipation for the icons of this current era; I am a bit torn by that statement. The ability of creativity to be contagious has its pros and cons, especially in today's present society. The convenience of the internet, unfortunately, permits for originators to get lost in the midst of those who admire their conduct and makings so much, they covet it. Speaking for myself and for a few colleagues of mine, whom have fallen victim to plagiarism and blatant identity-theft, it's a pain that is absolutely indescribable. To know the emotions evoked and provoked that goes into the creative-process, conceive your work, only to have it taken it from with no regard. It's almost synonymous to being in the position of a parent whom had their child abducted or worse, killed.

In today's society, I see the youth passionately proclaim their Love for art and artists, yet fail to give due credit. How are we to determine the trail-blazers when does who trail, are a step too close? How are we to anticipate the resurrection of originality if every time it rises, we stomp it back down? How are artists to flourish if pilfers in all their greed and insensitivity are constantly standing in the way? Creative minds are the anchors of society and to cripple them, is to ail society. I mean, I look at my words and I am instantly transported to the moment that inspired 'em; to thieve my words, is to thieve those moments. If you have someone, whom you adore, respect and idolize, pilfering their work is not at all a respectable way to show your appreciation.

I was home in NY from the 21st of December till the 7th of January. Each time I'm home, I am painfully reminded of why I call New York home. From being around family, namely my mum, to being reacquainted with old, yet familiar faces, the sights, the sounds and the endless opportunities lurking in every corner and every crevice. Initially I planned to embark on a fun-filled, solo shopping-trip before my departure, but ended wandering the city streets aimlessly. I sailed from Times Square to the SoHo streets. As fate had designed it, I bumped into a great friend of mine, Rich P., whom, if you don't know by now, is due to populate TV screens, headphones and speakers worldwide sooner than later. He's a Harlem-bred, strong-willed, Hip-Hop artist on the rise. We were super awe-struck to have bumped into each other, seeing as every attempt to meet up has failed due to our heavy schedules. The day went on to urge my path to cross with that of Max and Cyrus of Dead Heart NYC and Jovany Perez. We sailed the overly cultured streets of SoHo where I had the pleasure of visiting BAPE, Blvck Scvle, and Tokyo7 stores for the first time. Peace.

TEFFILOSOPHY VOL.14 x DISSIPATION OF LOVE

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us
You're in Love? What kind of Love: true Love or cruel Love? //
With whom, Love? Who loves you, like you Love you?
See, there's true Love and there's cruel Love, but is cruel Love still true Love? // If sincere, would you see it through, Love? Please, do, Love, and do Love 'cause through Love, we grew, Love. //
Be Love and see Love as you, Love. Peace-peace, Love.

VIDEO: JESSE BOYKINS III x "ZONER"

Directed by: Lightup Film.

The reawakening of the Romantic Movement, indeed. The fact that the visual coincides harmoniously with the song's underlying concept, builds a greater depth of appreciation, as well as understanding.
Jesse Boykins III has yet to disappoint. That's one aspect of importance for me when it comes to loving an artist or any person for that matter, really: a hope for the absent of disappointment. Enjoy; peace.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.16 x CHORUS OF AUTUMN

[17-11-2011] It was a rainy Thursday and I feared deeply that my camera would sustain some damage, but I was determined to get some shots in nonetheless. Almost certain there's more pictures from this day, but I don't have my other memory card at the time.

These pictures were taken by my lab-partner, Alicia, it was her first time and she did a pretty good job; I edited them. Peace.
