TEFF x COMPANY | FASHION MONTH [MINI] RECAP

So, it is no news that my absence has been abundant in the past weeks or so. My most current post under being dated the 6th of September, I'm sure you're wondering, "well, what exactly has she been up to?" Or, perhaps, not? Either way, that is what creating or seeking a platform on any social media medium is, right? "I'm assuming you desire to hear what I have to say, so I'll just got ahead and spew it, anyway!" Ha! But all jokes aside. It took a while, but it's finally dawned on me how incredibly difficult it is to remain productive, document bits of it, as well as share it all under one breath.

Considering I have never - in Life - acknowledged the actuality of September being deemed "Fashion month", being a first-time participant in its festivities proved, well, I'm not sure how to fit in words just yet. Funny enough, my bit of ignorance may have aided in it manifesting into my most busiest month to-date. I juggled ideas of sharing the recent events in chronological order or, simply throwing them out in a manner of which excited me most. I don't know. I mean, so much to be grateful for. It all spun right from the start of this month. I had not anticipated having my hands in as many projects as I do now, yet I am as overwhelmed, as I am grateful. I think I'll begin with fashion night out; it was my first time meddling in the festivities. I took the liberty to set out on the journey solo, initially, then eventually met up with a friend and a friend's friend and so on. Y'know how that tale goes. Upon stepping off the train, I arose to a slew of people; some well-dressed and others, in their illusive idea of what it is to be well-dressed. I marveled at the former and worried deeply about the latter. All-in-all, it was a sight to take in - all foreign to me. I am very fond of being embraced by foreign experiences and things, in general. There was a sort-of whimsical scent in the air, brought on by the occasional thunderous vibes echoing in the air. Part of which was a consequence of the myriad of music escaping from various events taking place from store-to-store. And, the other, from the soft roar of whispers from the side-conversations that took place.

THE EXPRESSIONIST'S MANIFESTO x [W]ITCHES BREW

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

[31-8-12 + 01-9-12] - I thought long and hard about a replacement term for the segment titled, "A 1000 Words". I desired something more me - more original - more weighted. Those who pay close attention will have gathered that I regard myself with a slew of titles apart from the oh-so prominent "the don". Sun Queen, Moon Goddess; The 3rd Element; 11-08; The Expressionist. I have long regarded myself as The Expressionist though I didn't make it publicly known until after having secured the title legally. Then, I declared it in a tweet last year followed by a fairly-detailed blog post sometime towards the close of last year. Or, perhaps, the post came before the tweet? I digress.

I divulged some information regarding a book I am [still] working on that I will publish and its intended title - The Age of The Expressionist. Hence, where the title, The Expressionist's Manifesto was derived from. There's a visual aspect to this current project, which I will present via this segment, starting with this one. There are other things in-store, but I dare not say.

These are honestly some of my favourite self-portraits. Every single detail appeals to my Artistry. But more importantly, my Being. I gave each aspect thought as I constructed, not having conceived any premeditated notions. The outfit itself was conceptualized on the 31-8 but I started late and ran fresh out of natural light, so I had to extend it into the following day. However, I did conduct the editing process to the quintessential Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew". So, I thought I'd let this collective serve as a homage (give it the French pronunciation, please) to the serenity his music has so deeply granted me. Fact: these works were initially titled, "The Tipsy Gypsy". Peace.

VIDEO: WILLOW x A/W 2012 - MONARCH MOVEMENT | VOGUE AUSTRALIA

Film by: Mike Sixty + Jacob Migicovsky.

The essence of anything in Life, including Life itself, lies at its source, within its building blocks - its foundation - its production. To know me, is to know that I thoroughly enjoy the employment of a keen attention to detail in a manner that transcends quality in style and presentation. That, and more, is precisely what this short fashion film is comprised of - behind the scenes footage featuring Willow's A/W 2012 collection for VOGUE Australia. As much as I enjoy indulging in the finished product, I have to admit that one is much more inclined to develop appreciation after having seen the efforts that were put behind it.

Just in case you aren't familiar with Sydney-based designer, Kit Podgornik of Willow's A/W 2012 collection titled, "[The] Monarch Movement", let me provide you with the bit of insight. First, I'd just like to add how captivating the title is and how the underlying concept goes on to amplify it all the more. The basis of the collection, as I have gathered, is set upon the realization of the parallelism between "humans have markings through textiles, just as butterflies do," says Kit. I think that is just absolutely brilliant. I am enthralled by designers who make the conscious decision to infuse that element of Humanity and nature in their work.

EP: YUNA x "DECORATE"

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I have been on a seemingly endless search of the slightest bit of the soulful, Malaysian-born and ever-so Lovely Yuna's music to share with you lot, assuming you haven't any knowledge of her just yet. Alas! I discovered her EP titled, "Decorate", dated at a bit over a year ago. I allowed the thought of her making music for the span of a year (or so) and my familiarity with her is [only] a little over 5-months-old to linger and I cringed. It seems like all my favourites from her don't have a video nor are they available on her Sound cloud. "Photo of You" is absolutely Divine and stays on constant repeat. Do your Spirit a favour and fall in Love with Yuna. Fall hopelessly and deliriously; enjoy. Peace.

A 1000 WORDS x A COLOUR COLLOQUY

[13-8-12] - Sit tight boys and girls, it's time I tell a small tale of evolution. First of all, this outfit - this outfit right here - was nonchalantly-constructed. Then what was intended to be a mini shoot to capture a close-up texture of my natural hair, as promised, erupted into a full-on self-shoot.
See, I was out in N.C. for a family reunion earlier in August and, while there, I packed some more fall-fitting garments to bring back to New York with me being that most of my stuff is there (N.C.). Minutes following zipping up my luggage and tossing it in the trunk of my sister's car and mind you, I'm using the term, "tossing" real loosely, I realised I wasn't dressed. I scrounged through my drawers and found this H&M dress given to me by my mum back in 2010(?). She bought it back in 2005, I believe. Real 70s-like. Then, I wrapped this Krispy Kreme crew-neck sweaters given to me by my aunt during the visit about my waist, threw on my red Bubba Gump Shrimp cap and melon and orange Reeboks and created an uncanny colour colloquy.

It's safe to say I killed two birds with one stone; captured shots of my hair and pretty cool impromptu outfit. Peace.

TEFF, THE CHEF | MUSHROOM + PEPPERS + CHEESE OMELET

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

[29-8-12] - God bless the able bodies, whose dimensions seem endless.
With that said, allow me to share with you my passion for cooking. The essence of it all is the freedom to experiment. I am one to be inventive in any given situation, on any given day. Most notably in the kitchen. The other day, I whipped up one of my favourite go-to choices for brunch - mushroom + peppers omelet/scrambled eggs. This time around, I decided to add some cheese - y'know, to further diversify or, perhaps, heighten its taste palette. In the midst of prepping, I wondered if my audience had ever had the pleasure of having this dish and decided to document the process and share.

The ingredients are as pictured: mushrooms [diced], eggs (I used 3 + I tend to remove the yoke in either one or two of the eggs to regulate cholesterol intake. You can use just egg whites if that's your preference), bell peppers (red + green), white onions [diced or minced], black pepper, salt [I used salt sense or light salt], a blend of parmesan, romano and asiago cheeses [you can do just parmesan] and a pinch of beef bouillon. I don't do measurements; I just tend to throw things in as I see fit and it comes out great (for the most part). So, feel free to alter the ingredients and process to the structure of your preference(s). If you have any additional questions, either e-mail me at dankanddapper@gmail.com or click here to ask me directly. Peace.
