TEFF, THE DON x TOP 12 IN 2012

With less than three hours left to the year, which coincidentally, parallels D&&D's 3-year anniversary, I thought I'd venture onto something I'm yet to do in the past -- construct a countdown on my outfits of 2012. I mean, why not? After all, this medium was initially appropriated to encourage retrospective thought -- monitoring my growth as a thinker, writer, doer -- an Artist. I decided to do it in a monthly manner; January, February, March...you get the gist. Some of these outfits you may have seen, some, maybe not.
I have to admit, I planned on doing top 12 moments, but decided against it given the constraints of time. Anyways, I digress. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

VIDEO: TORO Y MOI x "NEW BEAT"

Directed by: Scott Ross.

It's unlike me to feel this disconnected from music. The only entity capable of garnering my attention in abundance is Love. Then, of course, there's music. It's been a three and a half scores since I posted anything music-related on here. And, for that, I am deeply sorry -- to you and to myself. What better way to break the ice none other than one of my new-found favourites from Toro Y Moi simply 'cause I just learned most recently that we were nearly birthday mates (he's 7th of Nov., mine is on the 8th).

I'm a big admirer of effortless cinematic cool, especially in music videos. That's a sure element the music world seems to be missing nowadays, you know? I feel that's needed. The new-age formulaic way of creating and executing videos is not at all suitable to my liking, for the most part.

INTERLUDE: TEFF, THE DON x CHORUS OF ESCAPE

- [9-3-12] - Spring in Atlanta, who would've calculated it would afford me so much bliss? Quality time with quality people, walks through 5 Point, rummaging through thrift shops, playing dress-up, partying in heels that are entirely too uncomfortable, endless grooving to [West] African music. On top of it all, my body complied with my deep desire to vacate the norm; I tend to get sick whenever I travel. I suppose it's my slow-to-warm-up personality, transcending its psychological realm.
The ability to seize moments in photographs is incomparable; sifting through these photographs, months later, indulging in remnants of memories relished. That's partly what continuously stirs my interest in photography -- that element alone is abundant enough to inspire

PHOTO-DIARY | TEFF, THE DON x MINT WINTER

- [30-12-12] - Long walks in the Winter are a functioning phenomenon, reminding the scorned Soul it takes cold, to thaw cold. Numb the skin, clear the mind kind-of deal. Peace.

INTERLUDE: TEFF, THE DON x 25 LIGHTERS

- [25-12-12] - As much as I am a Lover of verbal expression -- whether written or orated, there's a menacing sense of allure that parallels being at a sincere loss for words. I genuinely enjoy those moments that are so full of grandeur and eminence, it seizes the desire to seek befitting words to mirror its quality. When moments transcend words, that is where Life is most abundant. You're just there -- left to bask in it all, delighting in the unspoken presence of inimitable joy in the isolation it's afforded you. That is precisely what comes to mind when I think of the nature of the holiday season. The mounting anticipation prior-to, the sight of homes strewn with a myriad of Christmas colours, the smell of home, your old room, the decor, the sound of your mum's voice, her incomparable home-cooking; it all culminates felicity.
I hope you lot shared in the same sentiments this season and are getting things in order in preparation for the new year as I am. Or, rather, I have. See, the new year, for me, begins the day following my birthday. It's been this way since my 17th birthday -- one of the biggest turning points of my life for my reasons my lips dare not speak. The thing is: I've been in 2013 as of November 9th. From where I stand, it's mid-year already. Catch up. Peace.

INTERLUDE: THE (MUSE)UM PROJECT x MOLLY SERIES (RELOADED)

- [27-11-11] - There are nights where I go without sleep just long enough to seek ways to occupy myself. I find myself revisiting old work over and over, usually within those hours. I deeply enjoy it; I create an opportunity to re-edit and award new meaning to what once was. Darkness, mystery and a lot of volume -- elements I believe that are parallel to my initial vision for this project. Click here to see originals + more. Peace.

THE EXPRESSIONIST'S CREED x VOL.5 | RUMBLING ROAMAN

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

- [6-12-12] - There is nothing I enjoy more than wandering aimlessly — in any street, in any avenue; transcending dimension; physical, mental, emotional, Spiritual. Hence, the wordplay seen in the term, Roaman. My self-designed mantra dictates: Will. Wander. Wonder. Wallow. Weep. Win.

These photographs were taken during my first trip to Jersey in nearly 4 years. The trip constituted indulging in The Archetects-related work, much-needed delicious Dominican food (Zunyda’s Dominican, by the way) + more. When I was in high-school, one of my close friends was of Dominican descent and I literally planted myself at home, simply to delight in the dishes native to her culture.
It's always thrilling, when getting to know someone, taking in as much of them as you can, assessing, analysing and relating. Zunyda and I have only known each other for as long as I've been blogging (she was one of my first followers on here), but only graduated to a more personal level upon being contracted to do a shoot for her early last year. Over time, we sought out and embraced our commonality in aesthetics. Hence, the key reason to our current collaboration.

What I find most amazing is the fact I have had this project in the planning stage for quite a while, it was just a matter of finding a befitting partner whose vision, determination and skill complemented mine. After all, quality work requires quality time. And, I am grateful I cultivated patience and waited. Peace.

THE PROJECT PREVIEW x VERSE IV

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

- [12-11-12] - I have this incredibly foul habit of assuming this blog and my tumblr share the same array of readers. Usually, when I post something here, I fail to post it there and, vise-versa; resting on that very assumption. As a result, I'm nearly sure a good number of you get lost in translation. But I digress.
With immense pride and excitement, I present to You, a sample of what I have come to call, Alchemy (it was initially regarded as The Prototype, but was most recently changed to a much more fitting term) - a preview to an upcoming joint-collection with myself and good friend/fellow Artist, Zunyda Maya. I design and, well, she performs the purest form of magic in her sewing skills. As aforementioned, I initially intended to release this on my birthday (November 8th), but regretfully, due to Hurricane Sandy and her setbacks, I couldn’t. With this bit, you can see a piece of me with the three-pleat knee-patch detail; to know me is to know my fixation with the concept of Three.

In the meantime, click here to watch The Prelude - a short, documentary-style I directed to illustrate who we are, what we do, what we intend to do and much more. More information to be released to along with a video + photo lookbook on 12-12-12. Peace.
