SUMMER PROJECT: STREET-LIFE SERIES | VOL.2

The summer is coming to an end and I am thankful for the new extents my knowledge of photography has reached. I took it upon myself to capture interests that lies with street-life, street-style, as well as identities this summer, this Autumn, however, will be a slightly different story. Me being a child of spontaneity, the skeleton which I have constructed now for this Autumn's portfolio might change. I'll refrain from disclosing details until I'm certain. Or until I begin executing concepts. If you're new to this blog, further familiarize yourself with my summer project by clicking here and click here to see more.

SUMMER PROJECT: IDENTITY SERIES x JOHNNY TSUNAMI

Shortly after publicizing my need for a muse or muses, Johnny Tsunami expressed his interest in modeling for me. We've talked about meeting up prior to this, so it was only right that make it happen now that he's finally in New York. If you pay close attention, there's usually no solid theme behind my shoots. I'm a fluid individual; I tend to go with the flow of things and let the photograph(s) tell its story. Though rain threatened to thwart my plans of photographing him yesterday, July 8th, we still made it happen and I'm beyond pleased with a majority of the shots. We were able to squeeze in two looks before the rain began pouring a lot harder. Honestly, I don't know why I'm even posting this right seeing as I have other photographs that I should be posting prior to this. Blame it on my immense amount of excitement!

TEFF, THE DON x THRIFT-FINDS VOL.2

About a week and a half ago, I ventured off to Brooklyn 'cause word-on-the-street is: Brooklyn harbors some of the best thrift/vintage joints as mentioned in this post. I don't know why I didn't document my journey to BK sooner given I was overly-excited about acquiring what I have grown to regard as "the sherbert sweater" I was equally excited about purchasing this button-up with a tribal-embroidery: muy suave.

I took a lot of photos that night and I am determined to post every-single-one-of-the-shots-that-I-love. It could easily be 30+, so? lol. Here's the sherbert-sweater. Or is it a coat? It's quite heavy and I am heavily-intoxicated with its beauty. Ah! Those colors. It was under 20, by the way.

Copped these new babies. Tribal patterns are growing to be a consistency in my everyday-attire. Hm. Swear I'm in love with canvas-sneakers. They're so practical and comfy; what more could I ask for, really?

SUMMER PROJECT: STREET-STYLE SERIES x TOPSHOP

Last week, while out sailing the streets of downtown, I found shelter from the heat beneath the shade of a tree at the park on east 7th and Cooper street. I was reading the papers for the first time in what seems like much-too-long. I was reading up on Congressman Weiners' latest escapades. Anyways, I spotted the beautifully and playfully-dressed young women riding bicycles. Yo. My eyes lit up. First I took some photographs while maintaing my distance, then I approached 'em and asked to take some pictures.

PIER 54

Sometime last week, a good friend of mine and fellow photographer Kadeem Lewis-Riley (he captured all photos of me in this post) and I ventured off to Pier 54. It's on 15th and 11th ave if you want to visit, by the way. This was my first time venturing off to this area ever. I was immediately overwhelmed by the beauty of it. Maybe 'cause we arrived right when the sun was setting.

Right on time to watch the sun set. I'm pretty sure most of my readers/viewers have seen my new hair, but just in case, here ya go:

LOOKBOOK: HYDEN YOO x FALL 2011

Shot by The Supervisory.

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with of local designer, Hyden Yoo's work,
but I'm posting these photographs for well, the photography. lol. Natural, effortless, the models are great, as well as the collection. I'm especially fond of the brown leather coat ascented with the snowflake-life-broche.

THE CANDY STRIPER

So, I recently acquired these red and white striped shorts! So far, I've worn 'em three times; I love it! I wore this past Monday with this green blazer, which I bought for the online store, which I am still setting up. lol I had no intentions of wearing it, but I couldn't find anything to put over my outfit, so I just threw it on and stuff. Hope whomever ends up buying it doesn't mind! By the way, seeing as I haven't vlogged in a while, the online store should be set up by the middle of the summer.
Oh look at what I ate afterwards: shrimp fried rice, jollof rice, meat pie and salad. nomnomnom

INSPIRATION AND ITS UNPLANNED VISITS

Honestly, I conducted this self-shoot from sometime from 12:45ish till about 2 o'clock in the morning. I didn't realize how much time that went by till I was done. Bear in mind that I conducted a self-shoot earlier in the day while wearing this shirt, so if you do see it again, well, youuuuu knowwwww. lol

I know each time I post a self-shoot, I usually claim it's my favorite, by-far, lol but this one currently holds the fucking medal. What inspired me, actually more like who inspired me to do this shoot is my sister. She came into my room after she got home from work, like she usually does, and I caught a glance of her reflection in my mirror and BAM! I started getting these images popping in my head. I was gonna put it off and do it later on the day, but I couldn't. I'm glad I didn't. Some of these photos possess that timeless essence, or is it just me? I love 'em. Especially the B&W shot with me leaning on my camera. (:
